How did you get started in the catering business?
For two years I worked as a Business Manager for a trendy restaurant where I had the opportunity to learn about the catering end of the restaurant business. Coming from a family of great cooks, including my own beloved mother, we (my brother John and I own our company) made the decision to forge ahead with a catering business of our own. With this decision, we then created menus and drafted a letter of introduction, mailing it to about 500 addresses. Within 48 hours of sending out the mailing, we began receiving calls to book events! The year was 1992.
What is a service that you provide that potential clients may not be aware of?
In addition to our full service catering business, we offer a complete meals to go menu called “My Favorite Dish” which provides clients with casseroles, side dishes, salads and desserts to pick up for supper or send to another family during a time of need. We believe it is a great service for anyone who wants to provide their family or friends with quality meals, but may not have the time to cook!
What is one of your signature dishes?
Wow! There are several! Just to name one, I would say our Roasted Vegetable Cheesecake – a savory, yummy cheesecake with fresh herbs, great roasted veggies and three cheeses. It is definitely a unique and popular item. We will never take it off the menu!
How do you work with brides?
We work with brides by listening to them. I tell each bride that we can offer them the benefit of our years of knowledge and experience in the business, but, not having done THEIR wedding yet, it is important that we listen with an open mind and help them produce a wedding that is truly indicative of each bride and her groom. It is always our goal to offer menus and services our clients are comfortable with while working within their budget to the best of our ability.
Do you do food tastings for the bride & groom?
Tastings are hugely important and I encourage anyone who is considering our company to come in for a tasting. No one should be surprised at their wedding by the food and there should always be a clear understanding between caterer and client what is being provided and the quality, taste and texture of the menu. Tastings are provided by appointment at our office and are complimentary with a signed contract for the bride and groom plus two guests, or, if a tasting is provided prior to a contract signing, we bill $25.00 per person.
What is your favorite part of your job?
Oh my gosh! Making people happy with our Innovative Cuisine, Impeccable Service and Imaginative Presentations! It is ALL about the client being happy with what we have provided them!
